That’s why it’s important to be properly trained on how to use each piece of equipment in your office, including the GE Ultrasound Machine Training. To help you get the most out of your machine, we’ve put together a few tips and tricks.

Tip #1: Check the Settings Before You Begin

Before you start your examination, it’s important to check the settings on your machine. Depending on the patient and the type of exam you’re performing, you may need to adjust the settings. For example, if you’re doing a musculoskeletal examination, you’ll need to use different settings than you would for an abdominal exam. Familiarize yourself with the various settings so that you can quickly and easily adjust them as needed.  

Tip #2: Use the Correct Gel for Your Examination

Another important factor in obtaining clear images is using the correct gel for your examination. If you’re not using gel or if you’re using too much gel, you won’t be able to get clear images. On the other hand, if you use too little gel, the images will be fuzzy. Be sure to ask your GE representative what type of gel should be used for each examination.  

Tip #3: Know Your Beamformer Modes

Your GE ultrasound machine has different beamformer modes that can be used to obtain different types of images. The three main modes are B-mode, color Doppler mode (CDM), and pulse wave Doppler mode (PWDM). B-mode produces black-and-white images, CDM produces color images that show blood flow, and PWDM produces Doppler images that show blood flow velocity. Each mode has its own uses and benefits, so it’s important to know when to use each one.  

Tip #4: Use the Correct Transducer

There are different types of transducers that can be used with your GE ultrasound machine, and each type is best suited for a specific examination. For example, a convex transducer is best for abdominal examinations, while a linear transducer is better for musculoskeletal examinations. Be sure to ask your GE representative which transducer should be used for each exam.  

Tip #5: Take Your Time

When you’re first learning how to use the machine, it’s important to take your time and go slowly. This will help you get a feel for how the machine works and how to obtain clear images. As you become more familiar with the machine, you can increase your speed.
